Simply add one package of sausage starter mix to 5 pounds of meat to make Chuds Texas-style sausage. Easily modifiable by adding your own spices, veggies, cheese, etc

Includes milk powder as a binder. Gluten-free.

Does NOT include curing salt. If you plan on cold smoking your sausage, add .25% pink curing salt to the weight of the meat and let the mixture rest for 24 hours.

Perfect mix for a classic brat!!

I started using the Chud sausage starter last year and love it. September 23' I used it as a base and made some stellar Chicken and Swiss brats and won our local Tap Rooms BBQ competition with it. This is a great base to add to and make any specialty sausage you can think of.

I made 6 lbs of sausage with one of the 5 packages of Plump and Juicy that I ordered. I just added high temp cheddar. The sausage turned out great…plump and good color. However, we didn’t love the flavor profile and were belching garlic after. Don’t know that I will use the rest. Don’t know what spices are even in it cause it just says “spices” on the package like its a big secret. Smh…. How can you know how to modify it if it doesn’t say what’s in it? Wish I would have just bought some dry milk powder.
